Little Shop of Horrors is best described as a horror, comedy rock musical (a rarity). Set in the fictional, rundown and under valued ‘Skid Row’, the story follows Seymour Krelborn, a florist assistant for whom life has not been kind. That is until he discovers a strange, enchanting…and man-eating…plant that he names ‘Audrey 2’. His new discovery not only proves to be successful in bringing new found attention and prosperity to Skid Row and its floristry, but changes the lives of Seymour and all those he knows and loves forever.

This would suit actors who are comfortable singing and dancing. There will also be opportunities for puppeteering that will be integral to the success of the show. We are looking for a large chorus line, with opportunities for a range of speaking parts of varying sizes. We really want both the audition process and the rehearsals to be highly collaborative – no idea will be off the table.

In order to secure Skid Row as being a fully inclusive community, we would like to keep all of the following characters gender fluid at this stage:

Familiarisation Workshop 23rd March 2025 4pm – 6pm  – will be a two hours session of fun. Singing, acting, dancing and getting to know our skid row – audition pieces will be available at this session. Come comfortably dressed and ready to go …….

Seymour Krelborn:   An insecure florist’s clerk, initially mocked and taken advantage of, but eventually becomes the hero. Genuine, well-meaning but taken for granted as a result of clumsy ways and poor social skills. Age: 25 to 40

Audrey: Bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour’s life. Following abusive relationships, Audrey has little self-worth, education or confidence, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor. Age: 25 to 40

Mushnik: The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour’s nosy boss. Greedy, motivated by money and manipulative, Mushnik treats Seymour and Audrey with contempt and disgust. Age 55-65

Orin Scrivello (The Dentist):  A dentist with a considerable ego, along with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey’s abusive partner, who is targeted by Seymour. Age: 30 to 50

Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon: Back-street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young, hip, and smart, these girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality. Age 18-35

Voice Of The Plant: An actor/vocalist located offstage. A conniving, street-smart and manipulative ‘villain’ with an ambition for world domination….and drinking lots of blood. A gritty, baritone, funky Rhythm and Blues voice would best suit this character, but all will be considered. Age: 25 to 60

The Plant-Audrey II (2 Puppeteers) Puppet: A cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has a keen appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. Puppeteer doubles as other sizes of the plant. *Please note we will be casting 2 puppeteers for this production.
