Mike Boakes was a member at the Stables Theatre for around 40 years, as director, actor and committee member. When he died in 2023 he left money for the theatre to use as they wished. Mike spent most of his professional career as a drama teacher and after discussions with his family it was agreed that a memorial fund would be created and used to develop youth skills within theatre – this could cover technical/ management or performance skills.

Individuals and productions can apply to be supported by the fund. Shows will be managed as a Stables Theatre Community production, and any income generated, after expenses, would be put back into the fund, making the fund sustainable.

All applications for the current financial year (October – September) from people who are 25 years old or younger at the time of application will be considered. People receiving support will be asked to recognise this on any marketing they produce.
