Synopsis

This classic murder mystery has an intriguing storyline with Christie’s inarguable

genius for plot-twists and tangled webs of deception. Murder on the Nile is set on a

river cruise in Egypt. Nine characters get on the boat: a world-wise cleric, a celebrity-

type honeymooning couple, their servant, a scorned fiancé, a traveller and wag, a

doctor with a gripe, and a prickly pain in the rear and her put upon niece. All have

different reasons for being there and bring their drama aboard the ship. When the

drama unfolds, someone is murdered. With the usual exposition ending, the theories,

conjectures and suspicions build as a shocking conspiracy is finally laid bare.

Murder on the Nile was first staged in1946 and is Agatha Christie’s own adaptation

of her popular novel, Death on the Nile, published in 1937.
