Initial read-through and workshop in late June/July. Rehearsals from August.

“What do you do when you are marooned on a tiny sand bank with your girlfriend and she starts to go crazy? That is a question for you angels.”

Two women wash up on a distant shore following a violent boating accident. Dazed by their experience, they look for a path home. But they discover that this unfamiliar land is not what it
seems – and that, though they may be together, they have never been further apart.

Unflinchingly honest and tenderly lyrical, Meet Me at Dawn is a modern fable exploring the
triumph of everyday love, the mystery of grief, and the temptation to become lost in a fantasy
future that will never be. Running at around 75 minutes, it packs a big punch into a relatively
short and deceptively simple piece.

Meet Me at Dawn premiered at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, in August 2017 and played at The Arcola in 2019. Zinnie Harris’s other plays include the multi-award-winning Further than the Furthest Thing; How to Hold Your Breath; and The Wheel.

“A deeply moving meditation on grief”

“An hallucinatory trip of a play, a sombre riff on grief and how it shatters and destabilises”
This extraordinarily beautiful and surreal play offers fabulous roles for two women aged 40-65,
playing a couple. It calls for emotional depth and range, an ear for language and a natural
physicality.

This will be my first in-house production at The Stables. I am a writer/director with extensive
experience in fringe productions and at community theatres, in particular at the New Venture
Theatre in Brighton. I am a collaborative director, who loves to explore. You can get a feel for
my previous work on www.different-theatre.com.

I am looking for hard working team players who are excited by character work and want to bring their ideas into the rehearsal room. I am also interested to hear from creatives who would like to get involved in creating the world of the play.
