The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen

Stables Theatre – The Snow Queen

It is with great regret that the Stables Theatre is announcing the cancellation of the last three performances of The Snow Queen. Due to the current situation with the Omicron variant and out of respect for our audience and the care for our cast, crew and volunteers we feel that ethically and morally this is the only option. The Box office will be in touch with audience members.

Socially-Distanced performance on Wednesday 15th December – booking by telephone and at box office only. There will be full table service in the bar, and audience members and theatre staff will be expected to wear masks including those with an exemption throughout the building and during the performance.
All other performances (Thursday 16th December – Thursday 23rd December) are Not Socially-Distanced – booking online, by telephone and at box office. There will be no restrictions at these performances. We will be happy for audience members to wear masks as and when they wish.

First Night – Socially Distanced and Mask Wearing

Welcome one and all to the story of The Snow Queen and young Gerda’s quest to rescue her dear friend Kai from the Queen’s icy clutches!

In this brand-new adaptation – written especially for The Stables Theatre by Michael Punter – Gerda undertakes an incredible journey to the frozen lands of the furthest north, meeting on the way a loopy witch who creates delicious but somewhat suspect ice cream, a Prince and Princess who never grew up, a bunch of wolves and their reluctant and somewhat exasperated leader, a pair of crazy crows, a brave reindeer – as well as some of his famous friends! – and a magical, mystical shaman….

…and of course, as should happen in all the best Christmas shows, evil is defeated, what was once bad becomes good, and everyone lives Happily Ever….oh, you get the picture!
