Dance Body Release
As part of The Stables Festival – Scene & Heard 2025, I would like to celebrate the emotions that women feel through a creative dance workshop.
Women, like all individuals, process emotions uniquely based on a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. Women’s emotions are powerful due to their depth, complexity, and ability to enrich both personal lives and relationships. The reasons women may suppress their emotions are multi-faceted and often deeply ingrained in societal, cultural, and personal contexts.
Emotional suppression can serve as a protective mechanism in certain situations but can also have negative consequences if it leads to emotional buildup, stress, or disconnection.
Addressing the underlying causes of emotional suppression—through self-awareness, emotional validation, healthy coping mechanisms, and supportive environments—can help women release pent-up emotions and achieve emotional well-being.
Dance allows for a creative exploration of emotions, encouraging participants to look at their feelings from different perspectives. As participants experiment with movement, they may gain new insights into their emotional states, understanding their feelings more clearly and learning how to respond to them in healthier ways.
By breaking through emotional suppression with dance, participants can reconnect with themselves, foster emotional resilience, and create space for deeper personal growth. Please note that this workshop is not led by a medical professional and is intended for personal growth and emotional expression through dance, not as a substitute for professional therapy or medical treatment.
