Audition Notice

 

Come and be a part of an exciting revival production at The Stables of Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf! This production will be staged in the round to create an immersive atmosphere.
An unique opportunity to experience the exquisite writing of Edward Albee for all actors involved. We have had a lot of interest for the roles of George and Martha. We are still looking for actors who would be interested in auditioning for the roles of Nick & Honey – the younger couple in the play.
The audition notice is below – please get in touch if you are interested!

Audition date: September 4, 2022 at the Stables Theatre, Hastings. Auditions will start at 10am.
The running of the day will be as follows: 10am till 1pm – first auditions
2pm onwards – call backs for chemistry testing

Performance dates: Oct 28, 2022 to Nov 05, 2022. Open Auditions (all are welcome to attend)

Rehearsal dates: Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7pm to 9.30pm. They would start immediately after the audition date. A third date will likely be added as we head towards production week.
Production week – due to the complexities of this play – call time will be at 6pm on performance days (1pm for the matinee performance). There will be a company warm up which is compulsory, and we will strictly adhere to ‘the half’. Please bear this in mind when you audition.

Synopsis
History professor George and his boozy wife, Martha return late one Saturday night from a cocktail party at the home of the college president, Martha’s father. Martha announces that she invited another couple, newly appointed lecturer Nick and his timid wife, Honey, over for a nightcap. When the younger couple arrive, the night erupts into a no-holds-barred torrent of marital angst and verbal tirades.

Due to the nature of this play – we will ensure the cast is looked after at all times.
Characters
Martha
A large, boisterous woman, late 40s-early 50s, looking somewhat younger.
George
Her husband, early to mid 40s.
Honey
Mid 20s, a petite girl, rather plain
Nick
Late 20s, her husband. Well put together good looking
