Acting Workshop

Acting Workshop

Classes run from 10am-1pm.

Dates – September 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th and October 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th.

For our Autumn season, we’re pleased to offer a continuation of our regular acting class with Hastings resident and critically acclaimed actor, Chris New.

The classes focus on giving each participant a fundamental understanding of acting – what it is and how to do it – and to build skill and confidence in all who attend.

Chris says – “Early in my career I could give great performances – but I didn’t know how.  So, for the last decade, I have painstakingly taken my process apart  – all the way down to its nuts and bolts – and put it back together again.  Nearly 20 years on from leaving RADA, I can now confidently say that I know how to act and it’s a great pleasure to share what I’ve learned at the Stables.”

This season Chris will offer each class member a choice of focus – a monologue from an existing play, a new monologue written for them or a duologue to be performed with another group member.  We’ll rehearse each week and conclude the season with a public showing of everyone’s work on the Stables stage (participation in the onstage sharing is optional and each individual is free to decide if they would like to take part).

The classes are designed to welcome any actor of any level of experience – the focus will very much be on you and what steps we can take together help you progress within the course.

To book, just select a seat from the booking page and that will reserve your place for the whole season of classes.  Classes run weekly, but there is leeway to miss a class here and there if you have other commitments, so don’t let that put you off.

The onstage sharing will be on the evening of Monday Oct 30th.

Participants are limited to 20 people.
