Dear Member

Stables Theatre AGM

During this past year we have been able to welcome a number of new and exciting artists to The Stables.  Under social distancing guidelines and COVID restrictions we have hosted rehearsals, workshops, R&D development projects, made films and music videos securing an income stream for the Theatre; we are very much hoping that these collaborations will continue for the Theatre.

We have also had time to reflect on the way the Theatre operates, the management, marketing and membership, and been able to plan some new and necessary changes that will secure the life of The Stables through its next 60 years, making it a welcoming place for all.

We are always looking for volunteers and currently we would welcome members who may be able to help in the following areas – membership, scheduling chaperoning for shows and arranging first aid and child protection training for the Theatre.  If you are able to help please email info@stablestheatre.co.uk for more information.

Obviously this year’s AGM is going to be held within Social Distancing Guidelines

Statement of Accounts – as last year, accounts will be available on our website from 4th May 2021 or in hard copy on the night of the AGM.

The Stables Trust Limited – signed accounts 30_09_20

Any Other Business – questions for AOB need to be submitted prior to the AGM and will be read from the stage; questions must be with us by 6pm on 25th May 2021.

Mailings – Due to the pandemic we have predominantly used email to contact you this year. If you require any of the documents discussed in this email as a hard copy please request via info@stablestheatre.co.uk or phoning 01424 423221.

Election of Members to the Council – following nominations, Frank Jenks and Colin Dormer have been elected unopposed to The Council.

This year would not have been the success it has been for The Stables had it not been for a dedicated group of volunteers who, following all COVID guidelines and restrictions, have worked tirelessly at the Theatre.  They know who they are and we give our grateful thanks.

The 17th May is now our beacon date when we are planning, hopefully, to re-open and welcome back our audiences to a COVID safe Stables Theatre.

We look forward to seeing you all soon

Dear All

Stables Theatre 2021/22

I hope this letter continues to find you well and keeping safe – a whole year when ‘theatre as usual’ has been a misnomer! Having said that there has been a lot happening at the Stables during the last twelve months.

We were fortunate to receive funds via the Government’s Cultural Recovery Grant, this has enabled us to complete essential external maintenance work and to continue our programme of upgrade to Theatre equipment.

Windows of opportunity have allowed us to use the Theatre throughout the year for rehearsals, R & D projects, live stream and of course three extremely successful Christmas events. We have been uploading as many excerpts from these events as we can to our online platforms and website – www.stablestheatre.co.uk

We have also been looking at membership during the year; you will have already been informed of our change to GoCardless for collecting membership fees and that 2021 fees will be reduced to £7.50 as a thank you for your continued support throughout this year. Ideas for other membership benefits are being looked at ie. regularly emailed newsletters, offers, events etc.

During my two years as Chair I have been looking at ways to develop the Council of Management, working on specific areas and assigning responsibility to individual members. As a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity we have to be able to demonstrate good governance. (Appendix 1 shows the current make-up of the Council).

Following the Prime Minister’s ‘Road Map’ announcement we are very much hoping that the Theatre will re-open for socially distanced performances from 17th May and with no restriction performances from 21st June this year.

Stables Trust Limited Annual General Meeting – 25th May 2021

We plan to hold our Annual General Meeting as late as possible to comply with our constitution and to allow the meeting to go ahead in person. The date of the meeting is 25th May 2021; social distancing will still be in place at this time.

Nominations – for Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and four Council members.
From the four Council nominees, one to hold Licensee and one to be able to advise on legal aspects of running the Stables Theatre.

Election to the Council must be submitted to the Secretary by Wednesday 31st March 2021

Nominees and Accounts – will be published on our website, or available on request by email, on Friday 30thApril 2021.

Voting – as we are able to hold our usual Annual General Meeting votes can only be cast in person at the meeting.

NB: In the event that the Annual General Meeting cannot go ahead due to a resurgence of the virus then a ‘special resolution’ has been drafted and the meeting will be postponed.
